When it comes to the design, the 42LH30 is one of the most simple looking television sets. It comes in a smart black color with curved bottom edges. The swiveling stand is the same color as the television. Also, the television’s design allows the speakers to be hidden from view as they are located along the panel’s bottom.
Considering the fact that the LG 42LH30 is an entry level HDTV, it offers some really amazing applications. It has a ‘Picture Wizard’ that helps the users to perform some basic calibrations and control the color, contrast, brightness as well as other features of a picture.
However it has a total of 9 aspect ratios, 4 for the standard definition and 5 for the high definition video. There also is a ‘Just Scan’ mode which offers a 1:1 pixel that matches a 1080p display.
The black level performance is really good in the LG 42LH30. It offers detailed black colors, especially in the case of shadows. The shadows look naturally realistic and are better than any other LCD televisions.
When calibrated the LG 42LH30 offers true color accuracy, especially in the brighter areas. The various color patterns appear natural on the 42LH30.
Video processing is also really good in the LG 42LH30. It easily resolves the details of still sources like 1080p and 1080i. It also handles the 1080i video and its deinterlacing really well.
Also included in the 42LH30’s features is a ‘real cinema’ mode which offers a smoothing effect.
Connectivity is not an issue with the LG 42LH30, as it has a variety of HDMI and regular ports.
Verdict
The LG 42LH30 is a really good entry-level high definition television and it acts as a pc monitor too. It is totally worth its price.
